Single Camera Format
Single camera format is when One camera is being used through out the whole production of filming. Single camera is mainly used in documentaries, dramas and some times comedy. The reason why they use Single camera in there categories is because it enables the director to have more control of the camera and the director can spot the mistake quicker. The way that the single camera shots will be used is by having a numerous shot taken in one go for example shots 1, 3, 5, 7 will be taken in one angle followed by shots 2, 4, 6, 8, from a different angle. Then in the editing process the editor can cut and ripple the clips together which creates a scene. The way that the Director has more control of the camera is by ordering the filming crew when to stop and start shooting, if there is a mistake or the camera is in the wrong angle and then he can order where the camera should go.

The advantage of using a single camera is that the director can have a more established role on making the film look perfect. Also it is much more cheaper for the reason because you do not have to pay for expenditure such as more camera more filming crew members and other equipment. Single camera make consume time however the out come of it is to make every scene look perfect.
Multiple Camera Format
Multiple camera format is when a production crew is using more than one camera when filing. Multiple camera format is usually used it Live Television programs such as sporting events and reality TV shows. It is used in these specific categories because it live broadcasted on air and the cameras are being filmed continuously. The directors role it these events to be next to a mixer where it channels which camera to come online and start filing and to speak in a mic to command which camera to be online. Also when being edited the editor has the duty to pick the best shots that was taken and then will be joined together and be finalized in a disk.
Advantage of Multiple camera format.
The advantage of having a multiple camera format is that you are guaranteed to have a better chance to cover all the shots and it will be live. on the other hand it maybe costly however it is much more effective when shooting in live events.
