Period drama - Merlin

Period Drama is a drama where it is set in the past such as Victoria times and old western time.
a example of a period drama that i analysed is Merlin. by watching this as a viewer you can judge when this was set which is the past by the costume, lighting and other aspects.
The costume in the drama  Merlin is old where the main characters are dressed as knight. this shows that this drama is based in the times where there was nights riding on horses. This portrays to the audience that if its a knights storyline they will have to adapt  what the knights cultures was which is believing in dragons and there would be queens and kings ruling land.
In Merlin Every character in this period drama speak differently from the modern English for example the word "fool" the definition of that in the old English terms is known as a entertainer. also another example of old English being used in this period drama is when everyone address's the queen to "my lady" in the Knights time this is how they would show respect to the queen.

SCI-FI - Doctor who

Sci-fi is anti-realist genre where the characters are some time abnormal. A example of a SCI-FI drama is doctor who. Doctor who is a antirealist drama where the story is fictional which means tht the narrative of the drama is not real.
The drama doctor who, has anti realistic characters where there are darlek which are robots  and props used such as the tardis where the doctor can travel through time.  the costumes are normally costumes that are out of this world such as aliens and other unrealistic creatures.
In this sci-fi drama the location changes through out the every episodes however there are some that font change such as the Tardis and the house. But the location used can be out of this world past and future.

Comedy - Friends

Friends is a comedy where it has audience watching while the program is filming. firstly there would be a 180 degree rule where any of the for cameras cannot cross. this allows the studio to be used properly and allow the audience in the background to watch too.
The locations in this comedy is normally based in apartments and the cafe. If they are going out of those areas for example a driving scene a green screen is used. but mainly all the scenes that take place in friends are in a studio.
Lighting in a comedy is always a netrual colour not warm or cool it matches the scene. The lighting should be the same through out the scenes because it is shot in a studio and the lighting should be consistant at all times.
The props that are being used is what every normal person has in theirs apartments or home. such as a sofa, TV kettle and ETC. It portrays the main characters as they are living in a  everyday living environment  however in the Cafe there is other props which you will find in a regular coffee shop.

Soap - Eastenders

Soap is a genre where it is shown on TV continuously it could be some days of the week to once a week. Eastenders is a example of a Soap drama. it is shown continuously though out the week and it normally comes on 4 times a week.Eastenders is a a realist Soap drama which means that all the situations and events that take place is known to happen in a persons everyday life. Eastenders involves realistic situations and events such as characters having affairs, stealing, arguments and family problems. The props that are used in used in are normally what is in a normal family house for example in the living rooms there cutlery, frames and etc...the lighting depends on what time of day it is in the set for example when the character is based out side it might me day or night.
